The plump and flavorful crab is soaked in the special soy sauce seasoning. Even though I had just a few spoonfuls of crab and the rice disappeared as if by magic. It’s not overly salty and there’s no trace of the usual strong flavor. I mixed rice with the crab shell, enjoyed the chewy innards and the seasoning. The rice mixed within the narrow crab shell has a delightful tangy and savory taste. Because I wanted more than just soy sauce crab, I also ordered soy sauce marinated shrimp. The combination of exploding shrimp and the sweet and savory soy sauce is as satisfying as ever. The marinated crab is also a rice thief. The cut surface of the crab is covered in red sauce. The seasoning has soaked into the tender crab meat. I grabbed a red crab leg and had it with white rice. If you’re not careful, two bowls of rice will vanish in no time. I wrapped the rice with seasoned pollack and seaweed, enjoying the unique flavor. The refreshing seaweed soup is an added bonus.

The second generation of Gamjibang Sikdang, built upon 26 years of expertise, is the true star here. The restaurant has also proudly earned a spot in the Michelin Guide for four consecutive years. For dinner, you can enjoy dishes like Gambas, seafood tapas, and Sekhwa, perfect as wine accompaniments. Due to its popularity, reservations might be challenging, but same-day reservations are possible, so keep an eye on available slots. It’s located a stone’s throw away from Gangnam-gu Office Station Exit 3. If you love crab, I highly recommend giving this place a try.
