This is the master’s Kalguksu. The Kalguksu here is quite unique. It’s somewhat reminiscent of bone broth, yet also has the refreshing quality of dried pollack soup and the lightness of rice noodles. Perhaps it’s because it’s made with Hwangtae (dried pollack) broth, but it boasts a deep and rich flavor similar to Mandu (dumpling) soup. However, the broth itself is clear and refreshing, with a pronounced and satisfying depth of taste. Moreover, the noodles are exceptionally thin and chewy. They’re made from potato, onion, and radish juice. There’s absolutely no overpowering flour taste separate from the broth. It’s truly impressive how they’ve achieved this balance. Every dish here has its own unique touch. If this place were near my home, I would probably have my meals here every day. From intensely flavored Kimchi fried rice to Mandu with a hearty northern-style filling, you must try a bit of everything on the menu.

Kkwak Kalguksu is the closest to Euljiro 4-ga Station. If you have room for more, visiting the nearby Gwangjang Market is also a great idea. Gwangjang Market boasts over 100 years of tradition as one of Seoul’s representative traditional markets. It’s packed with various shops and eateries, making it a favorite among both locals and tourists. You can enjoy everything from Kimbap and Tteokbokki to Bindaetteok and fried snacks.
