“This dish features a whole eggplant, slit and deep-fried, then generously topped with fragrant sauce. The eggplant melts like cream in your mouth. The fried coating is perfectly crispy. The sauce explodes with both sour and sweet tastes. Thereโ€™s some Cheongyang chili peppers in the middle that definitely tackle any greasiness. The sound of cutting it with scissors amplifies the appetite. I often go there when I think of eggplant dishes. Asking for a bottle of Tsingtao becomes an automatic reflex. It’s a Chinese restaurant where you must order fragrant eggplant over lamb skewers. After 5 PM, you must order at least two dishes if not ordering lamb skewers. With such a vast menu, choosing can take time, but fragrant eggplant is a must. Personally, next time I would like to try mapo tofu and egg fried rice. Itโ€™s a place where I want to sweep through the menu.

Located right in front of Exit 4 of Hoehyeon Station, it’s very accessible by foot. The entrance has been remodeled and is considerably cleaner. It’s a complete transformation compared to a few years ago. The interior is bright lime green, which might be a bit unfamiliar. After eating at Yeongil Banjeom, visiting the nearby Sungnyemun or the cultural complex ‘Culture Station Seoul 284’ near Seoul Station is also recommended.”
